About The Author
Tell us more about you.
I’m a tea fanatic (or snob). I love tea and in fact I have a moto: Friends don’t let friends drink (a brand name I won’t mention) tea. Ha, ha. Seriously, I love tea.
What are the three items you’d take on a deserted island?
Well…tea (obviously), books, and my companion animals. Oh, no! I forgot my husband.
Who is your biggest role model?
For books, hands down it’s Judy Blume.
What is your favourite book and who is your favourite author?
My all-time favorite novel has to be The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. Currently, my favorite author is Rex Ogle. His books give me all the feels I want from a novel.
Do you prefer e-books, physical books or audiobook?
I do all three. I’m always in the middle of four books at one time. One on my e-reader, a hardcover next to my reading chair, and two audio books: one for when I’m alone and one that my husband and I listen to in the car together.
Is writing your full-time profession or a hobby?
I’m a performing singer/songwriter for a living and now I’ve added writing to the mix.
What social media platform do you like and use the most?

Your Writing Process
How do you go about starting a new novel?
I outline first and then jump right in. It’s a simple outline. Just plot points I want to hit along the way. Everything in between happens organically.
Where do you like to write?
My favorite writing spot is on my back porch on a sunny day. But an indie coffee shop (My favorite is Dublin Roasters in Frederick, MD) or a cozy hotel room take a close second.
What do you like most about writing?
Creating characters that feel as real to me as flesh and blood
What do you find stops you from writing more?
Social media, ha, ha!
What genres do you like to write and why?
I’m currently writing contemporary YA because there is nothing I love more than a classic coming of age novel. My second novel is inching into the adult space. So, there might be a genre switch in my near future. Stay tuned…
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to aspiring writers?
When you’re ready to start querying agents, make the investment in yourself to attend writers’ conferences where you can meet agents face-to-face and make a personal connection. Even virtual one-on-ones make a world of difference and give you a leg up over cold queries. Pro tip: That’s how I scored my agent.

Showcase Your Book!
How many books have you written and if more than one, what’s your favourite?
Somewhere in Nowhere is my first novel and it debuted on April 14, 2026. And I recently turned in my second novel to my agent—I think it’s my favorite. Now, I’m working on book three. All are stand-alone novels, but minor characters and plots carry over from novel to novel and, if read together, tell a larger story.
How long did Somewhere in Nowhere take you to write?
The first draft took about six months to write, but there were many months of revisions to get the novel to a place where it was publication ready.
Lastly, what is your favourite thing about being an author?
Meeting fellow readers who want to read my book is the best feeling in the world. I love signing their books too. I even have custom stamps for a little something fun next to my signature.
