Date Me Bryson Keller Review

AHH! I love this book so much that it’s impossible to put into words just how much I really do love it. Now that I’ve got that out of the way, let’s progress with the Date Me Bryson Keller Review shall we? When Kevin Van Whye wrote this book he really did create a masterpiece in my eyes and I love it.

I understand there’s some attention around this book and it’s not the best. I will say that I am sided with Kevin Van Whye on this one, I wrote a whole assignment for university about how there’s no longer an original thought in the world of literature so I don’t side with him without prior academic knowledge. I will talk a little more about that later but it will contain spoilers so keep that in mind.

Date Me Bryson Keller Review

I love this book so be warned, Date Me Bryson Keller spoilers are imminent! I have marked where you’re likely to encounter spoilers although I fear that’s probably the whole post I’m afraid. I do want to talk about the cover though, I love it. I have the Date Me Bryson Keller paperback, I have the Date Me Bryson Keller hardback and a custom made Date Me Bryson Keller pin badge from Etsy!

Date Me Bryson Keller Characters (light spoilers)

Bryson Keller – Tough boy who gets a new outlook on life. I quite frankly, love him. He’s a little awkward but Kevin Van Whye brings him out of his shell perfectly. The kind of falling in love I wish I had in school. The jock that nobody thought would love them back. It’s no wonder Kai dated him!

Kai – Such a cutie! My heart burst with joy whenever something nice happened to him, I also cried when various things happened and his life came crashing down. I feel like his journey was a little more relatable for the queer kids in school and that just makes me love the book even more.

Cry Factor – Is Date Me Bryson Keller Sad? ***** (BIG SPOILER!)

Yes, without a doubt. I cried several times throughout Date Me Bryson Keller and I feel no shame! I’ll try not to spoil too much but the way his family reacted to him “coming out” was heartbreaking for good and bad reasons. Yaz really made the whole experience easier to cope with that’s for sure. I give the Date Me Bryson Keller book a solid 5 stars for the cry factor!

Books Like Date Me Bryson Keller

If you’re looking for other books like Date Me Bryson Keller, you’re in luck. This is my type of genre and I’ve read a few now to give some recommendations. Of course, I have to recommend Kevin Van Whyes other book, Nate Plus One. It wasn’t as good as Date Me Bryson Keller but it’s a good read nonetheless.

Below are some suggestions for other books you might love as well. You’re the one that I want was really good and the plot is different to Date Me Bryson Keller but equally as good. I really enjoyed Only Mostly Devastated and finished it over one weekend which is the fastest I’ve ever read a book finally, I loved The Passing Playbook, a trans piece that I referenced several times in my university assignments.

Kevin Van Whye & Date Me Bryson Keller Issues

Just read it. What Kevin Van Why did with this book is out of this world. Shall we talk about the controversy a little? A lot of people have said that Kevin ripped off another story, an anime story. I understand that he took inspiration from that and other sources and personally in this world the original thought is dead and everything has been done more than once.

If he wrote the exact same as the previous text, I understand. However, he wrote his own story with the same structure, and characters and he also referenced the original text and other texts at the back of his book. People have said that he only referenced them after the book come out and I don’t think they’d recall all old books and print new ones up so I call bull on that one.

I love the book for what it is, it’s amazing, emotional and a must read in my personal opinion. This is a Date Me Bryson Keller book review and not a Kevin Van Whye review so I can’t speak too much about the author other than he can write well. I also know other books that have pretty much taken films and other books and turned them into their own and I’ve heard nothing about them.

Date Me Bryson Keller Book Review Spoilers

The way his mum reacted killed me, I couldn’t stop crying for half an hour and that’s the same every time I read the book. I personally have a great mum who supported me every step of the way so to read about a character that I grew to love having to go through this, killed me.

I loved how their relationship grew and how Issac was quickly thrown out, I hated him and wished nothing more than he stubbed his toe every other chapter. I won’t say much more but if you’ve read it you know what I mean and if not, go read it!

Date Me Bryson Keller Rating *****

I loved this book, I think that’s obvious by now. You can get the Date Me Bryson Keller audiobook if you don’t like to read but personally, I love to have the book in my hand and be unable to even see the words when I start to cry, it’s all part of the experience!

The Date Me Bryson Keller hardback is a little expensive so I suggest getting the paperback first and if you love it as much as me, get the hardback and then you have a set! Let me know what you think about this book, do you 100% agree with me or hate everything I said and think I should never read it again (that one might not get approved if you’re a dick).
