About The Author
Tell us more about you.
I’m from South Wales and have lived there all my life, aside from the 3 years I spent in Winchester for my degree. A fun fact about me is that I’ve played roller derby for 12 years (and have no plans to stop anytime soon). I play for the Tiger Bay Brawlers’ B team, the Challengers, but I am also part of the bench management team for the All Stars, who are currently 7th in Europe.
What are the three items you’d take on a deserted island?
A fully-charged Kindle, a nice big cosy blanket and one of my memory foam pillows.
Who is your biggest role model?
As a writer, I really look up to Ali Hazlewood. Not only is she an amazing writer, but she’s really down to earth and looks fun to hang around with. Also, she does some great things for important causes.
What is your favourite book and who is your favourite author?
Despite being a romance author, my favourite books ever are The Stand by Stephen King, The Maddaddam trilogy by Margaret Atwood, and The Black Magician trilogy by Trudi Canavan.
Do you prefer e-books, physical books or audiobook?
I prefer paperback books. I read in bed mostly, and it’s just nicer having the book in my hand and being able to flip through the pages.
Is writing your full-time profession or a hobby?
I wish! I squeeze writing between my full-time job as a Civil Servant and all my other hobbies.
What social media platform do you like and use the most?
I’ve tried everything, but Instagram is where I truly belong (and remember to update the most).
Your Writing Process
How do you go about starting a new novel?
I jump right in, much to the chagrin of my writer’s group and my faithful beta readers. It leads to self-doubt, a million plot ideas and not really knowing where I’m going with the story until they’ve had fifty repetitive conversations with me to thrash the idea out properly.
Where do you like to write?
I mostly write at my desk because I switch my personal laptop on as my work laptop closes down. Boring, I know.
What do you like most about writing?
I’ve been really unlucky with love in my 38 years, and I’ve written myself off now. Writing romance means I can still explore these feelings and experiences I’d really love for myself, but are a little out of reach. Is that a bit sad?
What do you find stops you from writing more?
Time, mostly. Because I have so many hobbies, I’m strict about when it’s time to do certain things. But luckily, I can write quickly once I have a plan in place.
What genres do you like to write and why?
Romance, just because it comes naturally to me (despite my lack of romantic success). I’d love to write an epic romantasy or fantasy, but I don’t have the brains or attention span for that level of detail.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to aspiring writers?
Get your words down and don’t worry about the first draft. It’s supposed to be a bit rubbish, and that’s okay. The real craft comes in shaping those words and making them into something beautiful.

Showcase Your Book!
How many books have you written and if more than one, what’s your favourite?
I’ve only written and published one so far, and that’s Call It Fête. I adore Alex’s story — he’s a good guy that deserves all the nice things. But my absolute favourite project is a project I call Lego House. I’m keeping my lips sealed on that one, though, so I don’t ruin any surprises (or marketing opportunities).
How long did Call It Fête take you to write?
About nine months in its current form. It was originally a fanfic that I converted into an original story, so its journey has been a lot longer, about three years in total.
Lastly, what is your favourite thing about being an author?
All the fantastic people I get to meet. I LOVE it when people reach out to chat to me about my book, it makes me feel all tingly and happy.
