About The Author
Tell us more about you
I grew up ping ponging between a few states on the east coast. Switched schools a lot. I once read that moving around can be a catalyst for creativity. Those who move around can have difficulty making friends or fitting in, so they retreat into their imaginations. I spent much of my childhood writing, reading, and listening to my collection of old-time radio plays.
What are the three items you’d take on a deserted island?
A pen, a notebook, and my guitar.
Who is your biggest role model?
If I have to pick one (and I’ll go with creatives here), it would either be Bill Watterson, or the team of Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij.
What is your favourite book and who is your favourite author?
My favourite all time book is Watership Down. My favourite author changes year to year, but overall it might be Isaac Asimov.
Do you prefer e-books, physical books or audiobooks?
Physical books.
Is writing your full-time profession or a hobby?
Right now it is a part-time gig. I work full-time and have a family, so I do it when I can.
What social media platform do you like and use the most?
I’m busiest on Facebook but I also post on Instagram.

Your Writing Process
How do you go about starting a new novel?
I cannot plan to save my life. Between the ages of 15 and 30, I tried to write at least 10 books. Each time, I would get frustrated, the story would bottleneck, and I’d quit. Then in late 2016, my wife and I watched The OA on Netflix. I’d NEVER seen anything so original. After we’d finished it, I said “That. I want to do THAT in a book.” I wrote my first book, A Footstep Echo, over the next year, completely winging it, and going out of my way to be original. Every time I wrote something that reminded me of something else, I tossed it out. I follow this formula every time – Let my fingers dance and see where it takes me.
Where do you like to write?
At home on my computer.
What do you like most about writing?
I love the cathartic creative release. It’s very freeing to put your work out there.
What do you find stops you from writing more?
Just life stuff. But breaks are healthy. I take months off between project (sometimes a year or more) to recharge.
What genres do you like to write and why?
Science fiction is my thing. It’s my best tool for holding up to mirror to humanity and asking, “what if?”
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to aspiring writers?
Write the story you want to read. Don’t give a damn about what others want or think you should write.

Showcase your books!
How many books have you written and if more than one, what’s your favourite?
I have written four books in total, and am currently re-editing my first two books, a duology. I plan on releasing them this year as a combined work. My favorite, however, is my latest. It’s a social sci-fi novella titled After the Syzygy.
How long did After the Syzygy take to write?
After the Syzygy took me roughly six days to write. Then a week or two to edit.
Lastly, what is your favourite thing about being an author?
I mentioned this before, but I love how cathartic it is. I’m probably not alone in that respect! I also love the feeling of surprise I get when, because I do not plan or plot, something happens on the page that I never would have thought to do until I was in that moment.
