Awakening In Sapphire Book Review Jonathan Hawker
Every Month I get one indie book to read, it’s now July and I picked Awakening in Sapphire by Jonathan Hawker and I have stuff to say that’s for sure. I had no idea what to expect from this book but I highly rate it and it’s a must-read!
Spoilers are marked in italics and can be found throughout this article! So if you haven’t read the book yet and don’t want to spoil it, be prepared!
Awakening In Sapphire Synopsis
Camelot has fallen. King Arthur is dead, and the world is on its last breath.
Seventeen hundred years later, Morgan le Fay awakens, with only fragments of his past to guide him. Taking on the role of a mercenary in the neon city of Etna, he hides his true identity while making his presence known.
Meanwhile, officer Aaron Jones does his best to keep the city safe, but a fateful encounter in a dark alley leaves him missing and his life forever changed.
In Awakening in Sapphire, the first book in the Once & Forever Kings series, Morgan must navigate corporate corruption, occult politics, and his unexpected connection with Aaron. A low-spice MM romance with a grumpy/sunshine dynamic, the story explores soulmates, found family, and a “happily ever after for now” that continues in future books.

Overall Rating – 4.6
Want to know how I got my overall rating for Awakening in Sapphire? Take a look below to see what I thought. I thought Awakening In Sapphire had everything and I couldn’t get over the epic battle scenes and I hope to see more in the next installment!
If you’ve read Awakening in Sapphire and think I was too harsh, just right or a little too nice; let me know! It’s one of my highest rated books. I don’t think I’ve ever written a single review that has 5 stars but this is one of my cloest!
Plot – 4.8
This plot! After reading the blurb I was a little bit concerned that I wouldn’t be able to follow it as it’s got quite a few elements to it. That being said, it was super easy to follow, each character has their own mini plot which is amazing and it all entangles. If you’re looking for something full of magic and an EPIC battle scene, you’re in for a treat.
The battle scene at the end was well written, easy to follow and it gave me huge goosebumps. When Frey took out that monsters eyes, I was in love!
Charachters – 5
OMG! The characters in this book. Shane with his no power was my favourite, he grew in every page and towards the end he was one of the best in the book. Secondly, FREY! So sweet, super cute and a badass. Yes the main protagonists are epic in their own right but Shane and Frey stood out to me and the ending with Shane having magic, I wouldn’t take it, I was screaming with joy!
I can’t wait for the second book!
Ending – 4.6
Normally I hate endings, they always suck but Awakening in Sapphire didn’t disappoint. Although it ended in a cliff hanger it was a decent one compared to other books that end on a cliffhanger. Yes there were questions unanswered and people hate that but at the same time it makes me crave the next instalment and although I might be impatient, I cannot wait!
Emotional Factor – 4
I am a very emotional reader, that’s not a surprise, this book did have me tearing up in some areas, mainly towards the end when the huge battle scene was raising on, when Morgan lost Arron and it seemed all hope was lost, I cried a little. When the knights came rushing through to help, crying. I wasn’t in floods of tears throughout but I shed a tear or two that’s for sure!
Spice – 2
I’ve said before that I don’t include spice ratings in the overall rating because some books don’t have spice, some books have a little and some have a lot. Awakening in Sapphire didn’t have a huge amount of spice but when it did, it hit the mark and was written just write.
I’ve been told there is going to be more spice in the second instalment and quite frankly I cannot wait to read them. However, I hope there’s some spice when it comes to Shane because in my mind, he’s a hottie!
