Mismatched Book Review – Anne Camlin

So when I first got this audio book on Netgalley I wasn’t aware that it was just short of 5 hours and I was a little disappointed because it didn’t even last for the coach journey I was on, that being said; it wasn’t all that bad!

You may not have heard of Mismatched, mainly because as it’s a shorter read a lot of “influencers” don’t cover it on their book accounts which I find to be a huge shame but here’s what I thought about the book.

Spoilers are in italics so avoid them if you’ve not read the book!

Mismatched Book Synopsis

teen social media star learns he can’t control everything in this queer graphic novel adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma set in a modern Queens high school.

Evan Horowitz, an Insta influencer with a knack for matchmaking, loves playing cupid. When shy new student Natalia arrives, Evan jumps at the chance to help her find love—despite his best friend Davi’s warnings.

But as Evan’s schemes spiral into drama, he must figure out if his ambition is worth risking his closest relationships—and his own shot at romance.

Mismatched Rating – 4.3/5

This is one of the higher ratings I’ve given books, it’s spot on in my opinion. Do you think I rated it too high, too high or was I just spot on. I really liked this book, I would suggest getting it on audio as it’s a great way to pass the time, especially if you have house work to do!

Mismatched Plot – 4.5

So I didn’t know what I was expecting considering it was only just shy of five hours long but my gosh was it full of an exciting and engaging plot. It’s full of drama, a little romance and a whole lot of cheer and soul searching. If you want a short read that will have you gripped, the plot for Mismatched is one to dive into.

Mismatched Charachters – 4

So there was a lot of growth for the characters and honestly, Evan had the biggest growth throughout and it was amazing following his story and watching everything unfold. He was a great testament to, just because you think you’re doing the right thing doesn’t mean that you are and at the same time showing you that the thing you want is probably right in front of you.

Mismatched Ending – 5

The ending was so sweet, answered everything I had questions about and was a joy to listen to! Honestly, I normally hate endings because they can be so hit or miss and I find that it’s normally a miss but Mismatched had one of the best endings I have seen in such a long time. I even went back and listened to it a couple of times because it was that darn sweet!

Mismatched Emotion Rating – 4

There were no tears but my gosh was I happy. The book had me engrossed from the start and each chapter was packed with so much action you couldn’t help but feel something. The ending was sweet, romantic and spot on. Whereas, the book had so much drama it was a great time trying to keep up!

Mismatched Spice Rating – 0

This book has no spice, I don’t include spice in my overall rating because sometimes books have loads of spice and sometimes, like the case with Mismatched, they have none.
