Vampires Never Say Die Book Review – Gloria Duke

This is out of my normal LGBTQ+ books that I normally read but I’m glad I did. it’s marketed as a Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets the 21st century but I think it’s so much more than that, a piece in its own right.

Spoilers are marked in italics so if you haven’t read Vampires Never Say Die before, watch out.

Vampires Never Say Die Synopsis

Carrie Adams is a struggling actress, tired of being judged by her looks rather than her talent. But her life takes an unexpected turn when she finds out she’s a Slayer, destined to fight vampires. Her first target? Nick Stokes, her irritatingly attractive coworker, who just became LA’s newest vampire.

Now, Carrie has newfound strength, the power to summon a fiery sword, and a host of supernatural enemies after her. Nick offers to help, but Carrie is determined to handle it on her own. In a world obsessed with appearances, being a Slayer might be her toughest role yet.

Vampire Never Say Die Rating – 4.4/5

All in all I thought this was a pretty decent book, short and very sweet with plot twists and fun moments! Let me know if you think I rated this too nice, too harsh or just right!

Vampires Never Say Die Plot – 4.5

The plot was simple and easy to follow, as the book is only 8 hours on audiobook it didn’t take me that long to finish it, although I’d say it’s middle of the road for audiobook lengths. It’s an easy read of listen and with this book I’d suggest using the audiobook version. It has one of them plots that grip you and make you want to keep going despite having to do real things like eat and sleep.

Vampires Never Say Die Charachters – 4.5

There were numerous characters in Vampires Never Say Die but there were a few that stuck out more. Carrie and Nick are obviously the main protagonists and they were perfect for each other. I love both of their development as well.

Even though Carrie turned into a vampire and then lost it, it was great to see her development throughout and how she found the courage and confidence thanks to her inner slayer, when she confronted her ex and parents, I squealed with joy.

Vampires Never Say Die Ending – 4.8

You know what, the ending was pretty decent. It left a few questions unanswered which was a shame but at the same time it rounded everything off really nicely, I’m not the biggest fan of endings as they’re normally more of a miss than a hit but Gloria Duke nailed this one that’s for sure.

Vampires Never Say Die Emotion Rating – 4

I would say Vampires Never Say Die had a change of emotions woven throughout of the piece, there wasn’t any crying on my part and the emotions I would say were mainly happy, joyful ones especially when Carrie stood up for herself. Then you have the spicy scenes!

Vampires Never Say Die Spice Rating – 3

So overall there wasn’t loads of spice but there were moments in the book, especially when there’s a bed and a bike chain involved! Although I will say that the spice wasn’t throughout the book which was a shame but then the plot was full of wonders so it can’t all be spicy!

Although Vampires Never Say Die did have some spice I never add the rating to the total as some books have spice and others don’t and that’s just the way it goes, never fair to judge a book by something it might not even have.
