About The Author
Tell us more about you.
I grew up in the Midwest. My family wasn’t that well off, but I do have a love of music and was in band and choir through most of my primary education.
What are the three items you’d take on a deserted island?
Soap, a sauce pan, and a large knife. Though if we’re talking fun things: a notebook, a pen, and a large knife.
Who is your biggest role model?
They’ve changed over time. Right now, I think it’s authors that have managed to make a living from their words over a long time.
What is your favourite book and who is your favourite author?
Favorite Author: Octavia Butler for sure. My favorite book is always changing. I’ve read so many great authors and writers. I’m starting Bell Hooks-Communion in June. That should be everyone’s new favorite read.
Do you prefer e-books, physical books or audiobook?
I like a combo of ebooks and physical books.
Is writing your full-time profession or a hobby?
It was a hobby/profession, and now it’s my full-time job whether I have a choice or not. I’ve been looking for a tech job for about a year now. It’s not great out here.
What social media platform do you like and use the most?

Your Writing Process
How do you go about starting a new novel?
I’m a planster – I do a very brief outline so I know what direction I’m going, then I write in that direction until I get to the end unless I hit a dead end, then I back up and take a different direction to get to the end. After that, revisions/rewrites until I’m happy or my editing deadline comes up.
Where do you like to write?
I write more at home in the evenings mostly. I feel like I’m engaged more. In the past, I’ve written in cafes with a nice cuppa. But I haven’t done that in a while.
What do you like most about writing?
Characters and world building. I also like that my stories are fast paced. They take a breath here and there, but they tend to keep ya going until their done.
What do you find stops you from writing more?
Marketing – sometimes – honestly, I’m trying to see it as another form of writing and creativity and that’s helped a lot.
What genres do you like to write and why?
Mostly writing Urban Fantasy and Monster Romance, but I do write some contemporary kink/erotica short stories. All of it queer, but usually focused on those under the bisexual umbrella whether they are in same sex relationships or not.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to aspiring writers?
Write. ANYTHING. Then keep going. A lot of folks write a chapter, or a short story, or a character outline and stop. Whatever you’re writing, work on that until it’s finished. Then write more. Nothing you write in the beginning will be good. You only get better by writing. AND FOR FUCK SAKE – STOP USING THE AI CHAT BOTS – Get some WRITER FRIENDS or folks that are writing regularly. Join a writing group. The process is what makes good writing great, period.

Showcase Your Book!
How many books have you written and if more than one, what’s your favourite?
I currently have 12 books, novellas, and short stories available. My favorite right now is my next book The Demon’s Thief. I’m also looking forward to writing my next merfolk novel which will be out sometime next year.
How long did The Demon Theif take you to write?
Sometimes it’s four weeks, and sometimes it’s two years (like this next one). Different ideas take different amounts of time. The more complex, the more time it will take to write it. That’s okay, but you have to know that about your stories and your writing so you’re not burning yourself out.
Lastly, what is your favourite thing about being an author?
World building for sure, and then maybe talking with people who’ve read my books about characters and world building. I can literally talk for days about that stuff.
