Conventionally Yours Book Review – Annabeth Albert

This one was sat on my TBR shelf for way too long, I admit that my TBR pile is probably bigger than the pile of books I’ve actually read! I really need to read more! When I picked up my copy of the Conventionally Yours book I didn’t know what to expect but I’m so glad I gave it a go.

I’m a low reader so it took me a week to read this but everytime I had to put the book down all I wanted to do was pick it back up and carry on, it really gripped me and made me want to keep reading. Take a look at what I rated everything out of 5 for a better understanding of what to expect from this piece of art.

Conventionally Yours Synopsis

When two fan rivals clash at a convention, more than just victory is on the line.

Overall Rating – 4.1

Want to know how I got this rating? Take a look below. This Conventionally Yours Book Review is my opinion so did you think I was too harsh or too nice? Overall, I thought the book was really good. The plot was easy to follow, the characters were down to earth and relatable and it was a feel-good book I’d recommend to anyone wanting a pick-me-up.

Conventionally Yours Plot – 4.5

I found the plot easy to follow, it flowed with ease and was an easy read for dyslexics which is great. I loved the self-discovery that Conrad and Alden went through you watched them grow through the entire book and that’s something that makes a great plot.

There were twists and turns throughout the entire book, some that I saw coming and were way too obvious and then there were plot twists I did not see coming and I loved that. A plot that can keep me guessing is amazing and almost unheard of.

Conventionally Yours Charachters – 4.5

I found there to be quite a few background characters that I would have loved to have known more about and see their story a little more. That being said, the characters were well written, they had visible growth and kept me entertained.

Conrad is probably most people’s favourites but for me personally, I loved the growth, the self-realisation and how cute Alden got throughout the book. He took a step out of his body and saw everything around him and I thought that was great.

Conventionally Yours Emotion Factor – 3.5

I didn’t cry or tear up but there was plenty of emotion in parts of the book. At points I was sat on the edge of my seat with anxiety, especially the times where Alden and Conrad shared a room, I NEEDED to know what happens next. However, some prats of the novel felt a little like filler and didn’t really contribute to the emotional side and was just there to tell the story which was a shame.

Conventionally Yours Ending – 4

Now we all know I’m one of them people who either loves or hates an ending and sometimes endings can be so naff! I will however say that Conventionally Yours had a great ending, it flowed, it fit and it made sense. However, there were still some questions left unanswered which was a shame.

Conventionally Yours Spice Rating – 2

I don’t include spice ratings in my overall round up because some books can have a lot of spice and others can have none. There were moments of spice, nothing too graphic and move over the t-shirt kind of stuff if you know what I mean. However, naughty stuff was hinted to throughout the novel and the thoughts that Conrad and Alden had weren’t exactly pure!
