Let Your Heart Be Light Book Review (Short Story) By Russell Dean

I didn’t know what to expect when I picked this up as it’s a short story, and some of the short stories that I’ve read in the past have been terrible and lacking in so many areas, but this one, Chef’s Kiss! It was amazing all around, had me in tears and messaging the author to say how great it was!

I read this within 3 hours, it would have been 2 hours but I couldn’t stop crying and my Kindle pages were starting to get a little blurry! If you know me you’ll know that I’m a very emotional reader but that’s not a bad thing as it just shows how much I loved the book such as Let Your Heart Be Light by Russell Dean.

If you read this review be warned that spoilers are marked in italics so don’t get caught out because you honestly don’t want to ruin this one!

Let Your Heart Be Light Synopsis

It’s Christmas Eve, and Gwyn Griffiths feels lost.

Months have passed since his love, Tom, was swept through time, leaving them separated by over a century. The festive season offers no solace, and Gwyn finds himself seeking comfort at the bottom of a bottle.

But fate has something different in store.

An extraordinary encounter challenges Gwyn to see his situation in a new light. With the opportunity to change his path, he must decide if he can embrace the lessons before him and reclaim a glimmer of Christmas spirit.

Let Your Heart Be Light is a heartwarming festive short story set in the world of the Borrowed Time series. Taking place between Borrowed Time (Book 1) and Echoes on the Wind (Book 2), it offers a standalone glimpse into Gwyn’s journey, apart from the main narrative of the novels.

Let Your Heart Be Light Rating – 4.95/5

This is my highest rated book on my website so far, what do you think of my review? Was I spot on, too generous or a little harsh; not that I’m sure where I can be harsh as it was so good! If you haven’t read Let Your Heart Be Light by Russell Dean, what are you doing with your life!

Let Your Heart Be Light Plot – 5

For a short story, the plot was amazing. There was enough detail to paint a picture of all characters in the book and I didn’t have a hard time following it either. For a two-hour read, this book was incredibly well written, flowed with ease and was perfect for my dyslexic brain!

Let Your Heart Be Light Carachters – 4.8

They were all so well written, I loved them all and I connected with each one. Honestly, to put in enough detail for each in a short story is a feat many have failed at but Russell Dean hit the nail on the head and did it beautifully.

Let Your Heart Be Light Emotion – 5

I cried for like half the book. The whole thing tugged on my heart strings and I couldn’t get enough. I had the biggest smile on my face at the end and wanted more! If you’re an emotional reader make sure you have biscuits and tissues!

Let Your Heart Be Light Ending – 5

I hate endings but I have to say that Russell Dean did such a great job! The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that it ended! Who doesn’t want a second chance after all, a do over!

Let Your Heart Be Light Spice – 0

There wasn’t any spice in this short story which I’m glad at. It didn’t need spice and it wouldn’t have been so emotional and adorable if it did.
