About The Author – JD Frost
Tell us more about you
I’m from the UK, I’m the youngest of five kids, I have two human rugrats & one four-legged one and my favourite colour is black.
What are the three items you’d take on a deserted island?
My phone, my bed and a pizza. Random, I know.
Who is your biggest role model?
Definitely my mum. It’s probably a generic answer, but she’s genuinely the strongest person I know.
What is your favourite book and who is your favourite author?
Tough question. For my favourite book, I’d have to go with Always by Kindle Alexander. I got so immersed into that story and the ending completely wrecked me. As for my favourite author, there’s so many. But, I’d probably have to say Tal Bauer. I don’t think I’ve read a single Tal Bauer book that I didn’t love.
Do you prefer e-books, physical books or audiobooks?
I prefer e-books, but if I read one that I love then I’ll buy a physical copy after.
Is writing your full-time profession or a hobby? (If comfortable share your full-time job)
I’m actually a stay at home mum right now which is a job within itself, but every free minute I get is spent writing.
The Writing Process
What social media platform do you like and use the most?
It’s a toss up between TikTok and Instagram, I use them both the most.
My Instagram handle is @authorjdfrost and my TikTok handle is @author.jd.frost
How do you go about starting a new novel?
I make a rough plan, not too detailed as I like to let the characters do their own thing while I’m writing. Then, I write the first couple of chapters, scrap them and write them again about five or six times. Once I finally have a solid start, the rest seems to flow from there. It’s a finely honed system at this point. Stressful, but finely honed.
Where do you like to write?
I actually do all of my writing on my phone, that way I can do it wherever I am, whenever I can.
What do you like most about writing?
It’s an escape. And I also love bringing the stories that I conjure up inside my head to life.
What do you find stops you from writing more?
Finding the time. And I’m also very guilty of spending hours doom-scrolling on TikTok instead of doing what I should be doing. Procrastination is my worst enemy.
What genres do you like to write and why?
I love writing MM romance because it’s my favourite genre to read. But, I’d definitely like to dip my toes into other genres in the future.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to aspiring writers?
Keep going. Write that book. Even if it takes you a long time, don’t give up!
How many books have you written and if more than one, what’s your favourite?
I have one published book so far and I’m around a quarter of the way through my next one. My first will always be special to me, but my WIP is definitely a close contender.
Showcase Your Books!
How long did Anyone But Me take you to write?
It actually only took around three months, I think. But, I feel like I’ve learned so much since then and I wish that I didn’t rush through it as much.
Lastly, what is your favourite thing about being an author?
Seeing people talk about my book and making edits of it and saying how much they loved it is still a very weird thing for me to get my head around, but I absolutely love it. Knowing that my words touched someone else is definitely my favourite thing about being an author by far!
