About The Author

What are the three items you’d take on a deserted island?

Ignoring anything I would need for survival, I would probably take a coffee machine, A walkman, and cassettes.

Who is your biggest role model?

I wouldn’t necessarily say that she is a role model, but I said for the longest time that I wanted to publish before I turned 19, so I could say I beat out Mary Shelley, although I am 19 now, so I guess I need a new goal.

What is your favourite book and who is your favourite author?

I love the Inheritance Games series! Author-wise I’d have to say either Jennifer Lynne Barnes (Author of Inheritance Games) or Stephanie Garber.

Do you prefer e-books, physical books or audiobooks?

I have found reading e-books the easiest format out of the three, however I also love collecting physical books.

Is writing your full-time profession or a hobby?

It is a hobby. However, it is also technically my only source of income, I am currently studying for a degree in engineering, focussing in Aerospace.

What social media platform do you like and use the most?

I use TikTok and Threads most often however I make it a point to check all my socials once a day.

Your Writing Process

How do you go about starting a new novel?

I would say that i am somewhere between organised and jumping straight right in. The first thing I do even before planning is making a Spotify playlist for whatever project it is to listen to during the process. Then I try and create a chapter outline but 9 times out of 10 said chapter outline is only about 70% finished before i start the first draft, i go back and fill in the holes later.

Where do you like to write?

Usually at my desk in my flat, occasionally I will go to a cafe, but that does depend on how busy the cafe is.

What do you like most about writing?

On the odd occasion, when I can immerse myself into the writing enough that I can get lost in it when it gives the same effect as when I am reading a series I like myself.

What do you find stops you from writing more?

Perfectionism is my biggest enemy and the biggest cause of writer’s block. I’ve found that when I’m writing I keep on forgetting that I will be going back to edit so my perfectionism takes over and has me rewriting the same sentence again and again. I’m in the process of unlearning it at the moment.

What genres do you like to write and why?

Mystery and fantasy all the way. Mystery probably because i love a good twist, fantasy because of the escapism of it all.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to aspiring writers?

Not to repeat myself, but it is to not be a perfectionist, it has been the main cause of writer’s block for me. But also doing research before publishing, I was extremely inexperienced when I published my first book, and I still face the effects of the early stages of my career now.

Showcase your books!

How many books have you written and if more than one, what’s your favourite?

Currently I am working on my sixth book, at the moment my favourite is Memoriam although that might be recency bias.

How long did The House of Hidden Miracles take you to write?

The House of Hidden Miracles took me six years to write, from 2017 to 2023, which is the longest I have taken to write a book.

Lastly, what is your favourite thing about being an author?

Creating stories and watch readers reactions to them.
