The Problem With Perfect Book Review – Philip William Stover

The problem with perfect wasn’t a book I thought I was going to like, I love my LGBTQ+ books and I love leaving LGBTQ+ book reviews but after reading the blurb I didn’t think it was my style but boy was I wrong.

After having The Problem With Perfect recommended to me several times I took the plunge and ordered it, with the hope that everyone was correct and that it was a decent book and I’m happy to say it wasn’t bad at all!

The Problem With Perfect Synopsis

When style is everything, can Ethan discover that true beauty lies within?

Chase Myles is seen as a style icon with perfect parties, exotic trips, and a devoted boyfriend. But behind the scenes, it’s actually Ethan Wells who makes it all happen, producing their hit show Myles of Style.

When Chase ditches the show before a critical Pride TV event to party in Abu Dhabi, Ethan’s career is on the line. Desperate, Ethan seeks out Chase’s estranged twin, Beau—a rugged, down-to-earth mountain man—to impersonate Chase.

As Ethan tries to transform Beau into his influencer brother, he starts to realise that Beau’s kindness and authenticity might be exactly what he’s been searching for all along.

Overall Rating – 4/5

Overall I thought the book was really well written, the characters worked throughout making you either hate or love them. The detail in the book helped build a bigger picture and let the imagination flow.

Want to know how I got this rating? Take a look below. Do you think I was too generous or too harsh?

The Problem With Perfect Plot – 4

I quite liked the plot. It was easy to follow, great for dyslexics and is always great because confusing books normally end up in a DNF pile. The plot was fast-paced and had me on the edge of my seat with anxiety during moments of the book. It’s easily a 4/5 rating.

The Problem With Perfect Characters – 4.5

I hated Chase. The characters were really well written, you can see the growth throughout and Ethan and Beau really transformed throughout the book. The fact that Chase came back at the end was no surprise and Philip William Stover wrote him so well that you couldn’t help but hate him.

The Problem With Perfect Emotional Factor – 3

I ddin’t cry that’s for sure. However, I did find that there was a great deal of anxiety inducing moments in the book plus a lot of happy moments that had me cheering. The emotion is there it’s just not throughout the entire book which is why I can only rate it a 3.

The Problem With Perfect Ending – 4.5

When it comes to endings, this is one of the better ones that’s for sure. I’m always unsure when it comes to endings, they can be very hit or miss. It’s very cute, very realistic and there aren’t loads of questions left unanswered. If you’re looking for a cute romance with a decent ending, The Problem With Perfect is one you should read.

The Problem With Perfect Spice Level – 1

I don’t add spice ratings into the overall rating because some books have spice whereas other books have none. The Problem With Perfect didn’t really have any spice however, there are some topless scenes where it gets a little hot but that’s about it. If you’re looking for a book with spice in it, this isn’t one of them.
