You’re The One That I Want Book Review – Simon James Green
It took me way to long to understand the Greece reference and I totally apologise for that! I mean it should have been obvious from the cover art that it was about the film but it sometimes takes me a little longer to catch on!
I really liked this book, I felt like it flowed really well and that the charachters had the development they needed. It was also full of humour and had some really funny moments throughout.

You’re The One That I Want Synopsis
Freddie feels invisible—so much so that even his teachers and classmates forget him, and his mum, busy with her TV show, sees him as a disappointment. After a humiliating encounter with teen star Jasper Perry, Freddie adopts a new philosophy: say “yes” to everything.
Suddenly, he’s auditioning for the school musical, attending parties, and even flirting with Zach, the hot new guy. Freddie’s transforming, maybe even into someone his mum might finally be proud of.
But love isn’t easy, and making mistakes may be the key to discovering who and what he truly wants.
Overall Ranking – 4.3/5
Fancy finding out how I ranked You’re The One That I Want in this You’re The One That I Want book review? Take a look at what I thought below, do you think I was a little too harsh for my ratings, was I spot on or way too nice.
You’re The One That I Want Plot – 4.8
I really enjoyed the plot. I found the You’re The One That I Want book to be easy to follow, it flowed throughout and there weren’t really any slow parts. It jumped right into the plot and there wasn’t any slow start either which is great. It was well thought out, exciting and well worth a read.
You’re The one That I Want Charachters – 4.8
Now the characters were when it all got interesting to me. There are some that you hate, some that you love and some that kinda just faded into the background. They were well thought out and described well and you could easily build that mental picture in your mind.
I thought Freddie was quite adorable and naive at times which had me shouting at the page. I would like Zach to burn in hell, a total player, too much conflict with him and he was the one everyone hated that’s for sure. Finally Jasper, Jasper was cute af. He was the big bad movie star with a heart of gold, you couldn’t help but love him and there were many “Awww” moments between Freddie and Jasper that is was cute enough to warm anyones heart.
You’re The One That I Want Emotion Level – 3.8
The emotion was lacking in parts of the book. I didn’t cry unlike with most books but that didn’t mean there wasn’t any emotion. Where there was emotion in this book it had you feeling happy, overjoyed and at times hating the character, especially Zach. It brought a whole plethora of emotions out of me and I actually think that’s pretty cool for a book to do.
You’re The One That I Want Ending – 4
If you know me you’ll know that I’m not a fan of endings, some can be really crap but I will say, the ending for You’re The One That I Want was pretty decent. It was really cute, wrapped up a lot of questions that lingered but at the same time there were a few questions hanging around and as far as I know there’s no part two to this novel so that’s a shame.
You’re the One That I Want Spice Level – 1
Let’s talk spicy, I don’t add my spice ratings into the overall rating because not all books had spice. This one was more over the shirt spice, it was hinted at and there were moments where you were shouting, just kiss! At the pages so that’s something. But overall it’s a 1/5 for me.
